Importance of Sight: Know the challenges of not being able to see

Life starts for us when we open our eyes and see the world for the first time and that’s why sight seems to be the most important part of human life. We are heavily relied on our eyes to interact with the world and this reflects what human eyes are capable of. We often say “Seeing is believing” but we should also think about someone who can’t see and how it affects their life. Becoming familiar with the challenges faced by blind persons can help us understand their situations and how we can help to make their life better.

Current Situation: Understand the roots of the problem

World’s majority of the blind population lives in India housing over 8 million. What’s worse, 75% of these cases are curable with proper treatment and guidance. Although rates of blindness and vision impairment have gone down in recent years due to the work of several NGOs like Sightsavers, there many parts in India who are still out of the reach. They need better education and employment which will increase the access of the disabled community to education, employment opportunities and more fortunate life.

Our Work: Sightsavers’ work to restore sight

Sightsavers‘work in India helped thousands of people with free medical treatment and gives them a chance to lead a normal life, and our work put us in the top 10 NGO in India. We are working with various famous Ngo in India to eradicate blindness, social discrimination and lack of equality. Our work with our local partners helped us in the treatment of millions of people with eye disorder and blindness in the rural part of India.

Gift of Sight: Standing with our blind community & helping them see

Sightsavers has been working in India since 1966 and this foundation is trying continuously to put an end on this epidemic. Now India needs to do more and take a stand with their blind community and our donations can help someone to see for the first time.
